Deming Welch papers, 1861-1869.

A collection of correspondence sent by Deming Welch to his family in New Haven, Connecticut. Includes a journal kept by Welch and another kept by his father, Harmanus M. Welch. Deming Welch was serving as Assistant Quartermaster of Volunteers at the time he was corresponding. Welch mustered in on 30 June 1862 and mustered out on 21 February 1866 as a Brevet Colonel. Also included in the collection is correspondence of Harmanus Welch when we was running for State Representative from the Farmington and Plainville, Connecticut area.
